اسماء الحسنیٰ اردو معنی کے ساتھ

Asma ul Husna, the 99 names of Allah, in Arabic with transliteration and meaning in Urdu and English, and the hadith about them with its grading.

By the Darood E Taj project · Arabic checked against several digital editions · Last updated

Allah has the most beautiful names (al-Asma’ al-Husna), and the Qur’an tells us to call on Him by them (7:180). The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah has ninety-nine names, and that whoever memorises them will enter Paradise. This page lists the 99 names with their transliteration and their meaning in Urdu and English.

The Arabic of the list was read from the vowelled list in Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3507 and compared name by name with an independent list. Every name matches letter for letter.

What the hadith says about the 99 names

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred minus one. No one memorises them but that he will enter Paradise. He is One, and He loves odd numbers.” It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim (HadeethEnc no. 10416, graded sahih).

That hadith does not list the names. A list is given in a longer report in Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi (3507), which al-Albani, Ahmad Shakir and Zubair Ali Zai graded da‘if (weak). Many scholars of hadith hold that the list was added by a narrator and is not the Prophet’s words. Scholars have therefore compiled the names from the Qur’an and the Sunnah in different ways, and printed lists differ by a few names: some have al-Ahad where this one has Allah.

The list below is the list of Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3507. It is the one most widely printed and memorised, with the names and their meanings taken from the Qur’an and the scholars’ explanations.
